The crime series became a surprise success after it started streaming on Netflix last summer. Originally created for Starz, the show quickly became popular in the US and stayed at the top of the charts for several weeks.
Following a strong debut for its first season, Netflix has officially greenlit another season of the popular drama. Brittany Snow will return as Sophie O’Neil, alongside Malin Akerman as Margo Banks, promising even more intense storylines. At the Golden Globe Awards, Snow hinted to Entertainment Tonight that the upcoming season will include a shocking character death, calling it “wild.”
When asked about , Snow said it’s been “wild.”
Brittany Snow, known for her role in Pitch Perfect, hinted that the latest script was exciting and unexpected. She said people doubted they could outdo the previous year, but she believes they’ve succeeded. Snow also admitted she was surprised by the story, even though she had some idea of what to expect.
She hinted that the news would evoke a strong reaction, predicting people would be shocked, angry, surprised, and excited.
I’m not sure if I should say this, but everyone really needs to watch! When they asked me about the biggest shock in Season 2, I told them I literally jumped up onto my couch! Seriously, someone dies – I won’t spoil who – and it’s just…intense. The drama is off the charts!
Major deaths are common in The Hunting Wives. The first season ended with a shocking twist: Sophie killed Kyle and hid his body in the lake. This wasn’t the only murder that season, though – Abby was also killed, and the show revealed who was responsible in the finale.
I’m so excited for Season 2! We’re going to see a lot more of Karen Rodriguez as Deputy Salazar and Hunter Emery as Deputy Flynn, who are now both series regulars. Plus, Branton Box is joining as Sheriff Jonny, and it’s interesting because he’s actually married to Callie, played by Jaime Ray Newman!
Sophie and Margo aren’t speaking to each other. However, they’ll have to team up again when long-buried secrets and new enemies surface. As they navigate this risky situation, it becomes unclear whether they’re the ones in control or being targeted.
Brittany Snow Praised the Cast of The Hunting Wives
Even while hinting at a significant character death, the actress emphasized how much she enjoyed working on the show. 2025 was a successful year for her, as she released the first season of The Hunting Wives and the Netflix limited series The Beast in Me. She spoke highly of both projects, saying she feels very fortunate.
I absolutely adore the people I worked with on the show,” Snow shared. “We all had dinner together last night, supporting each other, and Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys are truly some of my closest friends.
She feels very lucky to have such good relationships with her colleagues on both shows. She’s heard stories about cast members who don’t get along, and she’s grateful that hasn’t been her experience, particularly recently. She says it’s been a really positive environment.
The Hunting Wives Season 1 is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet.
