Mark Ruffalo recently told Us Weekly he doesn’t plan on becoming a politician anytime soon. However, he hasn’t completely dismissed the idea, as he continues to share his thoughts on political issues. Ruffalo also explained that he sees acting and politics as similar – both involve serving the public. He believes if he ever did enter politics, it would be to help others.
I don’t have anything planned for that series right now, but you never know what the future holds! I really poured a lot of myself into that world and into the character, and honestly, performing is all about connecting with fans. I truly believe people in positions of power, like politicians, could really make a difference if they focused on helping others.
Mark Ruffalo shared that recent political events have been inspiring to him, specifically mentioning the election of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. He noted that Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, made history by taking his oath of office using a Quran, and this gave Ruffalo hope for positive change in the country. He explained, “Seeing Mamdani’s win in New York has really excited me about what’s possible in the United States right now.”
He worried about the power corporations have over politics, pointing out that both Democrats and Republicans seem to be giving in to corporate interests. He wasn’t criticizing just one party, but both. He felt that both parties are too focused on internal conflicts and have lost sight of serving the American people, which he believes is why so many citizens are struggling.
This is unacceptable, and everyday Americans are really struggling. If things were better for people across the country, we wouldn’t be in this situation. It’s a problem with both Democrats and Republicans – they’ve become too influenced by large corporations. We need a new direction for America, one that prioritizes working-class people, who make up the majority of this country.
Mark Ruffalo has a long history of sharing his political views. He’s frequently used his public voice to criticize the US government and Donald Trump. Back in 2017, when Trump was first elected, Ruffalo joined other actors like Alec Baldwin and Michael Moore in protesting outside the Trump International Hotel in New York City.
