Timothy Busfield Accused of Child Sexual Abuse

Actor and director Timothy Busfield is wanted by police following accusations of sexual abuse. Two 11-year-old boys, who worked on the TV show The Cleaning Lady where Busfield was an executive producer and actor, have accused him of inappropriate touching over several years. According to the New York Times, one of the boys claims the abuse started when he was seven years old.

The investigation started in 2024 when staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported possible sexual abuse involving two young boys. Both boys told authorities they were inappropriately touched by Busfield while working on the show, specifically mentioning tickling. They shared with police and their parents that they were “very afraid” of Busfield and felt a sense of “relief” when he wasn’t present on set. In a November 3, 2025 phone interview, Busfield described the set as “playful” and stated he didn’t specifically recall tickling the boys, but it wasn’t unusual for him to do so. He also suggested the boys’ mother was seeking “revenge” because the children weren’t asked to return for the show’s final season. Police also interviewed production assistants who described Busfield as occasionally “touchy” and “unprofessional” with the crew.

Warner Bros. TV stated to Variety that the well-being of everyone working on their shows, particularly child actors, is their main concern. They emphasized that they investigate all reports of wrongdoing carefully and will take action when necessary. They confirmed they are aware of the accusations against Mr. Busfield and are fully cooperating with the police. As of now, Mr. Busfield has not been arrested.
