Shameless is a Massive Streaming Hit 15 Years Later

Fifteen years after it first aired, the Gallagher family’s story is now a popular success on streaming platforms. The show, about a quirky and challenging family living in Chicago’s South Side, earned four Emmy Awards over its eleven seasons.

Shameless, Showtime’s longest-running scripted series, is currently the second most-watched show on the Apple TV store, according to FlixPatrol. The show originally debuted in 2011 and concluded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

William H. Macy played the role of Frank Gallagher, the often-drunk father of six, in the show. The series also featured Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Shanola Hampton, and Steve Howey. Shameless has received positive reviews, earning an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and viewers.

Shameless is an American TV show based on a British series created by Paul Abbott. Both versions were developed with the help of Abbott and John Wells. After finding success on Shameless, Jeremy Allen White, who played the oldest Gallagher brother, “Lip,” went on to star in the hit comedy, The Bear. He has won two Emmy Awards for his performance as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in the show.

Shanola Hampton isn’t the only former Shameless actor to lead their own show. She starred in a series alongside Mark-Paul Gosselaar, but unfortunately, it was canceled after just two seasons.

Shameless Star Will Lead a New Bosch Prequel Series

As a big fan of both shows, it’s always cool to spot familiar faces! I remember Cameron Monaghan – Ian Gallagher from Shameless – popping up in a few episodes of Gotham. And just recently, in October 2025, he’s starring in a new spinoff called Bosch: Start of Watch which is airing on MGM+. It’s great to see him continuing to work on such interesting projects.

I’m so excited to hear that Jack Monaghan is going to be starring in a new series! He’ll be working alongside Omari Hardwick, who’s playing his trainer, Eli Bridges – what a fantastic pairing! From what I understand, they’re planning to start filming Start of Watch in Los Angeles sometime in 2026, and I can’t wait to see it all come together.

When Monaghan was cast, Michael Wright, head of MGM+, said they were excited to build on the world of Bosch with a story showing how the popular detective became the character fans love.

Wright stated that with strong performances from Cameron Monaghan and Omari Hardwick, combined with the creative direction of Michael Connelly and the production team, Bosch: Start of Watch will continue the series’ tradition of realistic and compelling storytelling while also launching a fresh storyline.

You can watch Shameless on Apple TV in the US, and it’s also available for streaming on Hulu, Netflix, Plex, and The Roku Channel.
