Okay, so you might recognize Chi Lewis-Parry as Samson from 28 Years Later – he was seriously intimidating! But get this, he’s hoping to play James Bond next. It’s not exactly what you’re thinking though – he’s not going for the main 007 role everyone expects.
The former MMA fighter has appeared in several movies like Gladiator II, Kraven the Hunter, and the upcoming The Running Man. However, his role as Samson in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later really caught the public’s attention. People were fascinated by how the deadly Rage virus had become even more dangerous in the film.
In the film, Samson was the third type of Rage virus shown. Director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland had previously introduced the ‘Slow Lows’ – dirty, crawling infected who survive by eating insects and any people they encounter. However, Samson stood out to viewers largely due to actor Lewis-Parry’s imposing physical presence – and the prosthetic used for the character’s nudity.
It’s currently unknown if Lewis-Parry will be back for the third movie in the series, but he’s expressed interest in playing James Bond in Amazon’s upcoming reboot. He’s even started developing a fresh take on a well-known Bond villain.
Chi Lewis-Parry wants to play Jaws in the next James Bond movie
Chi Lewis-Parry believes the iconic villain Jaws would be a perfect antagonist for the new James Bond movie, whoever Amazon chooses to play 007. He’s even prepared, having developed a detailed backstory for the character in case the studio is interested.
As a huge fan, I see Jaws in 2026 as this total powerhouse enforcer. He’s not just athletic and aggressive, he’s a straight-up bruiser who finishes the job. He doesn’t bother with finesse – if there’s a door, he’ll smash right through it, maybe even rip it off its hinges! I’ve been thinking a lot about his metal jaw and I’ve got this whole backstory planned out for him, really digging into why he is the way he is. The main thing is to make him feel incredibly strong and physically imposing.
Richard Kiel famously played the villain Jaws in the James Bond films The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. He was easily recognizable for his imposing height and distinctive metal teeth.
Although previous films often treated Jaws as a playful villain – for example, having him destroy cable car lines in Moonraker – Lewis-Parry aims to make the shark a genuinely frightening presence.
The original ‘Jaws’ film, while impactful for its time, doesn’t feel as frightening now compared to modern thrillers. What truly terrifies is a predator that’s incredibly fast and unstoppable once it attacks – something overwhelmingly powerful and physically threatening. That’s the kind of intense, visceral approach I believe this story needs.
