Superheat has launched a unique water heater for homes that also mines Bitcoin. It cleverly uses the heat generated during the mining process to provide hot water, effectively turning computing power into both a utility and potential income.
The Superheat H1, unveiled at CES 2026, is a revolutionary water heater that can also mine Bitcoin, effectively earning money while providing hot water like any other appliance. It’s being touted as the first of its kind.
Superheat explains that their system uses about the same amount of electricity as a standard electric water heater, but instead of letting computer processing heat go to waste, it reuses that heat to help warm the water.
The company says their H1 device is different because it uses computer processors – the kind used for things like Bitcoin mining – instead of standard heating elements. These processors create heat as they work, and the H1 captures that heat to warm water. This means the device can both provide hot water and generate Bitcoin at the same time.

According to the company, this system heats water just as efficiently as a standard electric water heater, but without using any extra energy. Instead of releasing heat as waste, it directs that heat through a special system to keep the water at a steady temperature and allow the computer equipment to continue running.
According to Andrew Geng, co-founder and CTO of Superheat, cryptocurrency mining always creates heat as a byproduct. Traditionally, this heat is simply wasted. The H1 system captures and reuses this heat. If you’re already using energy to heat water, the H1 allows you to simultaneously contribute to the Bitcoin network.
Superheat says its H1 device lets you earn Bitcoin simply by using it every day. You can track your earnings and manage everything – like how much you’re mining, energy consumption, and withdrawals – using their software. They offer a mobile app for individual users and a web-based system for businesses with multiple devices.

The H1 is intended for use in homes, apartment buildings, and businesses, and will be available for both individual consumers and businesses. Superheat claims it will cost about the same to buy and operate as a traditional water heater, but with the added benefit of earning revenue through Bitcoin mining.
In the future, the company plans to expand its platform beyond Bitcoin mining. It will support AI training and cloud computing, and create a network of small data centers powered by heat, located inside buildings.
CES 2026 saw a flood of new gadgets, including some truly innovative ones. Sony and Honda are collaborating on a car that doubles as a PlayStation, ASUS has created glasses that function as a computer monitor, and Gamesir unveiled a retro-style mobile controller playfully named the “Pocket Taco.”
While many new products impressed, an AI-powered refrigerator and an AI virtual friend were singled out as the worst of the show.
