CI Games is working to build excitement for the sequel to their 2023 game, Lords of the Fallen. The first game received a mixed reception, so they’re gradually releasing new content to show players what’s coming in the next installment. This sequel expands on the original, with gameplay enhancements and a focus on broader appeal. While it still shares similarities with popular games from FromSoftware, it aims to improve on the previous release.
It’s more than just a resemblance – the new character design for Lords of the Fallen 2 is drawing criticism for appearing to copy a character from another game. The ‘Crescent Host,’ an enemy in the sequel, looks so similar to Wylder from Elden Ring: Nightreign that many are accusing the developers, CI Games, of plagiarism.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski responded to claims that the company copied ideas from FromSoftware by sharing proof they had the concept much earlier. He posted a screenshot of a photo of the ‘Crescent Host’ design, originally sent in July 2024 – months before their game, Nightreign, was announced in December 2024.

Look, as a big fan of Lords of the Fallen, I get why people are talking about the game’s look. The world is designed to feel like a dark, medieval fantasy, and honestly, that’s pretty much the point of the whole ‘Souls-like’ genre! So, yeah, some things might look familiar because a lot of games in this style share similar ideas and assets. It’s just part of the aesthetic, you know?
We have a lot of respect for FromSoftware and other studios, but we always create original work. Our armor designs in the first Lords of the Fallen received positive feedback, and we’re sure the designs in Lords II will be just as good. We fully support our artists and the unique, high-quality work they produce, says Marek Tyminski.
Players have pointed out that a character recently revealed by CI Games bears a strong resemblance to Artorias, a popular character from the 2012 Dark Souls DLC. The main difference is that this new character fights for a “moon goddess,” while Artorias served the “Lord of Sunlight.” While fans have noted these similarities, CI Games hasn’t officially addressed the comparison.
