Though initially panned by critics and audiences for its intense violence and confusing style, the film has since gained a dedicated cult following. After more than 35 years, the epic science fiction story Dune returned to cinemas. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024) were both huge successes with critics and audiences. The popular cast will be back in theaters on December 18th to film the next chapter, Dune: Part Three, based on Dune Messiah, the second book in Frank Herbert’s series.

The HBO series Dune: Prophecy is likely to come back for a second season in 2026. The show is based on the Great Schools of Dune books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, but it’s designed to lead into Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, rather than being a direct adaptation of the books themselves.

Anderson, and it really brings the first book to life. It’s pretty hefty – around 550 pages total, split into three volumes. You can grab the volumes individually as hardcovers, or go for the fancier Deluxe Editions with slipcases. But honestly, the best deal right now is the complete box set – I just saw it on sale for $59, down from $78! It’s a great way to experience Dune in a whole new way.
