Released on November 26, 2025, Zootopia 2 is quickly becoming the most successful animated film ever made in Hollywood. The movie brings back Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they pursue the villainous Gary De’Snake throughout the city of Zootopia, all while working to clear their own names after being falsely accused. This highly anticipated sequel is enjoyable for viewers of all ages, and in just six weeks, Zootopia 2 has already achieved significant success.
As reported by Deadline, Zootopia 2 has become the third-highest-grossing animated film ever, earning almost $1.6 billion globally. The top two spots are held by Disney’s Inside Out 2 with nearly $1.7 billion, and Ne Zha 2 from Chengdu Coco Cartoon, which has earned $2.1 billion. Although Zootopia 2 isn’t currently number one, it’s performing so well that it may soon surpass Ne Zha 2.
Why ‘Zootopia 2’ Has Been Such a Success
Zootopia 2 is a fun movie that appeals to a wide audience. It’s visually stunning with beautiful colors, features an upbeat soundtrack, and tells a funny story about a pair of unlikely partners working as cops. I really loved how the first Zootopia introduced us to Judy and Nick’s dynamic and built up that amazing world. The new Zootopia movie picks things up right away, and while knowing what happened in the first one definitely adds to the experience, you don’t need to have seen it to enjoy this one. It’s great that it works for everyone!
