Jimmy Kimmel won a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Talk Show and jokingly thanked President Donald Trump, referring to him as “Jennifer,” while accepting the award.
The late-night host and Donald Trump have a famously strained relationship. Things came to a head when the host was temporarily taken off the air for a week after making a comment about Charlie Kirk. Trump then publicly celebrated the suspension online.
After a significant public outcry – including boycotts and calls from Disney talent for fans to cancel subscriptions – Disney reversed its suspension of Jimmy Kimmel. Since then, Kimmel has continued to voice his criticism of the president, not just on his show, but also in public appearances like his Christmas message in the UK, and now again during his acceptance speech at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel has signed a new deal with ABC to continue hosting his late-night show for another year. He’s well-known for sharing his opinions on politics during his opening remarks each night. Recently, he criticized the president’s response to the news of director Rob Reiner’s death, after the president had negatively described Reiner and implied his dislike of Trump contributed to his passing.
