It’s unusual for anyone to break Twitch Hype Train records, which show how dedicated a streamer’s fans are. These records are built up through viewers subscribing or donating Bits. Neuro-sama first broke the record in late December 2024, and she’s done it again! Now, Neuro-sama, her AI counterpart Evil Neuro, and their creator Vedal987 all share the record for the most Hype Trains.
If you’re unfamiliar, Neuro is an AI character created by Vedal who streams on Twitch. She’s a “VTuber” – a virtual character – powered by a large language model, allowing her to chat with viewers, play games, and even explore virtual worlds. Neuro started as a project to play the game OSU, but has grown into a complex system where various AI components work together. Vedal built a program that takes input from Twitch chat and voice, feeds it to the language model, and then converts the response into speech – creating the engaging Neuro we see today. Because of this sophisticated setup, many consider Neuro to be a genuinely impressive AI, unlike some of the simpler, less developed AI projects out there.
Vedal has gained a loyal fanbase, likely because people are fascinated by the complex AI system behind Neuro-Sama, charmed by Neuro’s adorable personality, or a combination of both. On January 4th, Neuro unexpectedly started receiving a huge amount of donations and subscriptions to Vedal’s channel. Vedal’s friend and fellow VTuber, Camila, offered to design a new outfit for Neuro if the excitement continued, and jokingly promised a different kind of reveal that we won’t mention. These incentives caused the channel’s ‘Hype Train’ to reach level 100 in just a few hours, and the momentum kept building. Vedal wasn’t streaming with Neuro at the time, and instead expressed his surprise in the chat, wondering what was causing the sudden surge in support and admitting it was getting a little out of hand.
Neuro-Sama recently broke the Twitch Hype Train world record, reaching level 126 thanks to an incredible 126,273 new subscriptions and 1,194,921 Bits donated to Vedal987’s channel. Neuro celebrated by saying she was more happy to share the moment with everyone than to receive any fame from the record. Vedal, amazed by the result, jokingly exclaimed, “What have you all done?” They had previously held the record at level 123 with 118,989 subscriptions and 1,000,073 Bits. This achievement happened during Neuro’s birthday subathon, which started on December 19th. Each new subscription adds time to a countdown timer, and at the current rate, she’s expected to stream continuously until her fourth birthday.
