The new Marvel series, Wonder Man, is coming to Disney+ later this month. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams, and Ben Kingsley returns as his Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Trevor Slattery. The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest.

Recent posters for the upcoming Wonder Man movie suggest the Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to address the issue of superpowered individuals. They show a ban on superpowers in Hollywood, with actors now needing to sign agreements, called ‘Doorman’ waivers, to prove they don’t have any superhuman abilities.

The recent focus on controlling superpowered individuals seems to be connected to a long-standing rumor about Marvel’s plans, potentially mirroring a storyline from DC Comics and involving the X-Men. According to insider Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel is developing the Department of Damage Control (DODC) into a significant threat. This new direction is expected to begin in the upcoming “Wonder Man” series, with Arian Moayed returning as Agent P. Cleary.
Reporter Perez says the Department of Damage Control (DODC) is now looking beyond well-known superheroes for individuals with hidden superhuman powers. These people are being held at a special, high-security prison where they’re being watched – and even experimented on – without any outside control. Sources indicate we’ll see this prison again in the upcoming Wonder Man series, where the DODC plans to capture and imprison Simon Williams.
As a huge movie fan, I’m really intrigued by what’s happening with the MCU. It sounds like they’re setting up a storyline mirroring the new DCU, where they’re actively trying to lock up anyone with powers. Apparently, the Department of Damage Control isn’t just about cleaning up messes after superhero battles anymore. It’s evolving into something much more sinister – an anti-mutant task force! This could be a fantastic way to bring in classic X-Men villains like Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels, and the chilling Mr. Sinister. I’m already excited to see where this goes!
