A single YouTube video, a 10-hour loop of a fireplace, has apparently earned over $1 million in less than ten years. While the claim has circulated, some people are skeptical about its accuracy.
YouTube has launched many creators into long and successful careers. However, it’s also been the starting point for some internet stars who were famous for just one video.
Videos like “Charlie Bit My Finger,” “Met at the Zoo,” and “Leeroy Jenkins” remain popular and well-known. But they’re not quite the same as the simple, long-form content like a 10-hour video of a fireplace.
This video is simply ten hours of a cozy fireplace burning – you can see and hear the crackling wood. It’s the only video on the ‘Fireplace 10 hours’ channel, and it’s incredibly popular, with over 156 million views.
YouTube channel reported to make $1m off one video
The channel has now surpassed $1 million in revenue, remarkably achieved with only a single video – a 10-hour-long upload.
One X (formerly Twitter) user commented that the video’s creator is financially secure, sharing a screenshot showing the video has earned $1.24 million over the past nine years.
Other estimations have the channel earning between $500,000 and $800,000 in the last decade.

Some viewers have questioned how much money the channel could have earned, considering YouTube’s current rules for its Partner Program. However, this channel was started before those rules changed, and probably didn’t need to meet the requirement of uploading three videos to qualify.
Some people believe YouTube itself is benefiting financially from the video, rather than the person who created it. One person explained that the platform profits from views and advertising on these kinds of videos.
YouTube has the right to make money from a channel’s content and keep all the earnings. This is clearly stated in the YouTube Partner Program rules.
