There’s no better way to start the new year than with Angie hilariously walking straight into a stack of glasses! Thankfully, we have camera footage of the whole thing – it was quite a mess, breaking glasses and even leaving Angie with a split lip. Bronwyn joked that her lip fillers probably saved her teeth! I’m just a little concerned that, after this and her recent broken finger on the yacht, Bravo’s insurance might not cover her for future trips.
After Angie calmed down and got herself patched up, we got this really fun scene of all the women in matching dresses, posing for pictures with this gorgeous Greek backdrop. On the way to the shoot, Heather had a moment – she called it a nip slip, but honestly, it was way more than that! But hey, it’s a vacation, right? It really reminded me of the classic days of Real Housewives of New York, which was famous for needing a lot of blurring! Poor Lisa, though, just doesn’t get the matching outfits thing. She only seems to enjoy it when the theme is all about her.
During a quick chat at a photoshoot, Heather and Whitney marvel at how quickly Meredith’s attitude has changed – she went from being angry with them to seemingly content. They wonder if they should just appreciate this new, peaceful dynamic. Heather is happy to simply go with the flow, but Whitney, after lunch with Bronwyn and Mary, feels compelled to figure out why Meredith is acting differently, which is characteristic of her. Mary observes that Meredith experiences extreme mood swings, saying, “She has too many highs, too many lows, too many mediums, and it’s not adding up,” and the idea of having “too many mediums” immediately catches my attention.
The sudden seriousness of this conversation feels really out of place. I came on this trip expecting fun and silliness, but now everyone’s upset and worried about Meredith’s changing moods. It seems like Mary and Whitney are especially concerned because they’ve seen addiction firsthand with their families – Mary with her son, and Whitney with her father – and they’re recognizing similar patterns in Meredith’s behavior. Mary admits she regrets missing warning signs with her son and doesn’t want to make the same mistake with Meredith. But is it right to compare these situations? Or are their past experiences with addiction making them overreact to Meredith’s ups and downs?
Reality shows often feature people battling addiction, but sometimes the term is used unfairly as a way to criticize someone’s behavior. In this case, after watching Meredith for six seasons, her actions don’t seem extreme enough to justify a serious discussion about addiction. While there’s a story about a potentially problematic incident on a flight, she generally behaves as she always has – either withdrawn or easily angered. That doesn’t really add up to needing to label her an addict. It will be interesting to see how she responds at the reunion after hearing what’s being said about her in this episode.
To make matters worse, Bronwyn jumped in, adding that she saw Seth having dinner with a woman she believed was an investor a few months ago in New York. She didn’t think much of it then, but now, seeing how defensive and worried Meredith is, she wonders if there was something more going on. Honestly, I’m bored. If I were to die today, I suspect I’d discover I’ve wasted days, maybe even weeks, listening to accusations about Seth Marks being unfaithful. Enough is enough! If something was actually happening, it would have come out by now. With all due respect to Seth, he doesn’t strike me as someone capable of keeping a secret. Bronwyn even pointed out that he approached their table at the restaurant – why would he do that if he was with another woman? And frankly, people who have their own secrets shouldn’t be quick to accuse others.
While all the drama unfolds, Meredith and the other women are enjoying a spa day, seemingly unbothered. That is, until Britani’s playful splashing goes a bit too far, leading the group to jokingly threaten her. The lighthearted mood quickly turns sour when they scold Britani for getting their hair wet, despite the fact that they drenched her with water on a previous trip without complaint. The funniest part of the whole argument, though, is that they’re all whispering because they’re supposed to be quiet in the spa, making the hazing of Britani even more ridiculous.
Angie is upset that her hair feels stiff, jokingly suggesting the water might have been contaminated. She also complains about the time it took to dry, but Britani points out that as a hair professional, it shouldn’t take her that long. Lisa quickly replies that Angie’s hair is synthetic, so it shouldn’t need an hour to dry, and she seems playfully delighted to point it out.
On their way to dinner, Lisa briefly talked about her fondness for trees, even saying she pretends they’re hugging her when their branches touch. Then, she went back to playfully teasing Britani. In a way that’s reminiscent of Regina George, Lisa casually asked Britani if she had a drinking problem, claiming she’d heard Britani was switching between vomiting and drinking on the yacht. The source of this rumor? A flashback reveals Meredith told Lisa about it while in a bubble bath. Lisa admits she doesn’t know who started the story, but it eventually leads back to Bronwyn, who told Meredith. Ultimately, these accusations are meaningless – just a way for Lisa and Meredith to pass the time and entertain themselves at Britani’s expense.
The situation quickly becomes awkward, and the group calls out Lisa for hypocrisy – she was upset when someone called Meredith an alcoholic, yet she’s now doing the same thing to Britani. Lisa initially denies it, but the show immediately cuts to a clip of her saying she “outed” Meredith’s alcohol use. It’s classic reality TV drama. Eventually, Lisa tries to backtrack, saying she doesn’t think Britani is an alcoholic, after realizing her actions have gone too far.
Heather attempted to smooth things over by praising Britani, which led to a discussion of her role in the 2012 movie The Mistle-Tones with Tia Mowry and Tori Spelling. Lisa added that Britani had Broadway experience, but the conversation shifted when Heather casually suggested Britani had achieved more success than the others. Bronwyn immediately protested, and the group interpreted Heather’s compliment as a veiled criticism of themselves. They accused Heather of speaking for Britani, just as they felt Lisa did for Meredith.
Okay, so things really escalated when Whitney brought up a false equivalency and said Britani was the underdog. Lisa just lost it, and they immediately started screaming at each other – it was messy, and wine ended up everywhere! Lisa was super quick to say it was an accident, like she was afraid of getting in trouble with the show’s producers or something. Honestly, it felt like she was bracing for some kind of immediate consequence, and in a way, she got one – the situation definitely blew up after that.
It was truly one of the most striking things I’ve ever witnessed. A staff member came to their table and insisted they leave, even after realizing they weren’t finished talking. Angie told him they’d be done in five minutes, speaking in Greek, but he demanded they leave right away. I’ll never forget the look on her face – she was completely shocked and offended to be kicked out of a Greek restaurant by someone who was also Greek. She even said, “This is my country,” which reminded me of the video of Reese Witherspoon’s arrest. But the restaurant had clearly had enough, and despite having food left on the table, the women were forced to leave. I overheard the server say, thankfully, they were gone.
