It’s still unclear to many why Disney made another Tron movie, and it didn’t perform well in theaters, which makes a sequel unlikely. But soon, those who didn’t see it in cinemas or rent it will be able to watch it as part of their streaming subscription.
Two months after its release, Tron: Ares has become Disney’s biggest box office disappointment of 2025. While critics were split on the film, general audiences enjoyed it, giving it an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, positive reviews didn’t lead to strong ticket sales. The movie earned just $142 million worldwide, falling short of its $180 to $220 million production cost.
According to ScreenRant, Tron: Ares will be available on Disney+ starting January 7, 2026, and is expected to perform well on the streaming service, potentially better than it would have in theaters.
