Underrated Brad Pitt Sci-Fi Space Movie Coming to Peacock Soon

As a film buff, I’m excited to see Peacock adding Ad Astra to its selection! It’s a really compelling sci-fi drama from 2019 starring Brad Pitt as an astronaut, and I think it deserves more attention. While it came out a few years ago, it’s gained a following since then, and this new streaming release is a great chance for anyone who missed it – or wants to revisit it – to give this underrated film a watch.

Ad Astra finds Peacock streaming release date

Starting January 1, 2026, Peacock subscribers will be able to stream the sci-fi film Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt. The movie will become available on the platform over six years after it first came out in theaters, according to ComicBook.com.

Released in 2019 and directed by James Gray, Ad Astra follows astronaut Roy McBride (played by Brad Pitt) on a dangerous mission across our solar system. He’s tasked with investigating mysterious energy surges that are putting Earth at risk. These disturbances are thought to be connected to a decades-old expedition to Neptune, led by Roy’s father, Clifford McBride, who disappeared in space and was presumed dead.

The film features Ruth Negga as Helen Lantos, Liv Tyler as Eve McBride, and Donald Sutherland as Colonel Thomas Pruitt. Critics generally liked Ad Astra, giving it an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 398 reviews. However, audiences weren’t as impressed, with a lower 40% score on the site.

In a review for Cinapse, Julian Singleton praised the film as a bold and insightful exploration of ambition – how striving for more can actually blind us to the simple beauty around us.

Ad Astra made about $50 million in the US and Canada and $77 million in other countries, bringing its worldwide box office total to approximately $127 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
