The Duffer brothers, creators of Stranger Things, have announced that their planned TV series based on Stephen King and Peter Straub’s novel, The Talisman, will not be moving forward. The project, first revealed in March 2021, was to be a Netflix production with support from Amblin Television and Paramount Television Studios. The novel was a New York Times bestseller.
In a conversation with CBR, Ross explained that Talisman has left Netflix and they are no longer working on it. Matt also confessed that they might have been unrealistic to think they could adapt The Talisman successfully.
Ross shared that the project has been in the works for years. He recalled reading a script for Talisman during his college internship at Kennedy Marshall, and jokingly apologized that his team wasn’t the one to finally bring it to fruition. Matt chimed in, saying that whoever eventually succeeds in adapting the story deserves the credit.
