In a recent announcement on their website, DMM Bitcoin disclosed that an estimated 4,502.9 Bitcoins left the exchange without authorization. Rest assured, immediate actions have been implemented by the team to prevent any further unauthorized outflows and ensure the security of the platform.
DMM Bitcoin guarantees that they will obtain an equal amount of Bitcoin using the assistance of their affiliated companies to compensate for the outflow, ensuring the completion of the transaction in full.
The platform has put a hold on all immediate purchases using the spot market, and notified users that Japanese yen withdrawals could take longer than typical.
The loss marks the second largest in the region. Coincheck was hacked for 58 billion yen in 2018.
