Microsoft has clarified that Xbox doesn’t have an official partnership with the streaming platform Kick. This comes after Kick used Xbox’s name in its promotional materials, leading to some misunderstanding.
On December 17th, Kick posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a handshake emoji and the word “xbox,” causing speculation that Microsoft had officially partnered with the streaming platform, which is backed by Stake.
Trainwreck, a business partner and early user of Kick, simply posted “Big moves,” which fueled speculation that Kick and Xbox were collaborating.

So, pictures of this partnership with Kick started popping up online, and honestly, the reaction was pretty quick and negative. A lot of people are saying Xbox is getting involved with a platform that’s already got a bad reputation. Apparently, Kick has been getting heat for being linked to online gambling and for hosting streamers who got kicked off Twitch for doing stuff they shouldn’t have. It’s a bit of a messy situation, and a lot of gamers aren’t happy about it.
A popular online post, with over 1.3 million views and 40,000 likes, criticizes Microsoft’s partnership with a company known for serious controversies, including allegations of employing individuals accused of harmful crimes and incidents resulting in deaths during live broadcasts. The post expresses disapproval of this collaboration.
The situation escalated enough that Microsoft issued a clarification, replying to the post.
Xbox doesn’t have an official partnership with Kick. Kick released an app on Xbox’s platform on its own, and we’re currently reviewing it to make sure it follows our store rules. Any apps that don’t meet those standards will be removed.

The company confirmed that Xbox has not partnered with Kick.
A new app from an independent developer has been released on our platform, and we’re currently reviewing it to make sure it follows our store rules. Any apps that don’t meet these standards will be taken down.
Since it started, Kick has become a popular alternative to Twitch, largely because it offers creators a better share of the revenue. However, its ties to the crypto gambling site Stake have repeatedly caused problems and criticism.
