With the release of Terminator 7, director James Cameron is back at the helm of the franchise, and he’s recently shared news about whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his famous role.
While discussing his film Avatar: Fire and Ash with The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron revealed updates on Terminator 7. He stated he plans to fully dedicate himself to the project once he finishes promoting Avatar. However, he also noted a significant challenge: ensuring the story remains believable science fiction by staying ahead of real-world technological advancements. He explained, “There are a lot of narrative problems to solve. The biggest is how do I stay enough ahead of what’s really happening to make it science fiction?”
When questioned about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in the next Terminator film, the director stated he’s confident Schwarzenegger won’t be appearing. This would mark the first movie in the long-running series without its iconic star. The director explained this decision, saying it’s time to introduce a new cast of characters. He felt his involvement in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate provided a fitting conclusion to Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of the T-800. He wants to explore the concept of a time war and artificial intelligence in a fresh way, and create something unexpected for audiences.
This is a developing story…
