Last November, a creator named Froddoyo released a mod called Project Misriah, which cleverly rebuilt the experience of Halo 3 within Valve’s Counter-Strike 2. While fans loved it, Microsoft wasn’t pleased. They asked Valve to remove the mod, and Valve followed through with the request.
Froddoyo explained that Project Misriah was a mod for Counter-Strike 2, built using maps and elements from Halo. The goal was to recreate the feel of playing Halo 3 multiplayer within Counter-Strike 2. Because the mod directly used characters, maps, gameplay, and sounds from Halo 3, Microsoft likely asked for it to be taken down.
Froddoyo announced the removal on X, jokingly writing, “It was a good run! Thanks to Microsoft for making it possible!”
Just wanted to let everyone know that Project Misriah has concluded. It was a great experience, and we’d like to thank Microsoft!

Froddoyo, in a comment on the trailer’s YouTube page, expressed gratitude for the support the mod received but confirmed it won’t be released again. They also shared an optimistic outlook, stating they’ll use what they learned to create something new in the future.
While the first Halo game, Combat Evolved, is getting a complete remake called Halo: Campaign Evolved to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary in 2026 – and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 – it’s unknown if Microsoft plans to remake any other classic Halo titles. There are rumors of other Halo games in development, but it’s currently unclear what Halo Studios will release after Campaign Evolved.
