The second season of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to premiere in 2026, and it’s bringing a highly requested character with it: Toph, the Earthbender. After getting a first look at Miya Cech as Toph, fans are excited to see this beloved character, known as the Blind Bandit, join the show.
As a huge fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I was thrilled to hear Toph Beifong was joining the live-action adaptation! She first showed up in Season 2 of the original animated series and immediately became a favorite. This character is a blind earthbender – meaning she can basically control stone, sand, metal, you name it – but it’s her personality that really makes her special. She’s got this incredible sass and a really quick wit. Honestly, she was so crucial to Aang’s story that it felt inevitable she’d be part of the live-action show, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Okay, so Netflix finally gave us a peek at Season 2, and I have to say, I’m really intrigued by Miya Cech as Toph! They dropped a teaser trailer, and it’s the first time we’re seeing her in costume and, well, doing Toph things. You can check it out at the top of this article – it’s definitely got me more excited about the live-action adaptation.

Even though we only see Toph for a short time, it’s enough to get Avatar fans really hyped! Her incredible footwork, unique fighting stance, and powerful earthbending are all on display, and the scene of Aang practicing with a blindfold—probably to better focus—makes for a truly memorable introduction. Fans are incredibly excited to see more!
Many took to the comments of Netflix’s Instagram post to relay that emotion, too, as the streamer welcomed viewers to the Earth Kingdom. Toph’s original voice actor, Michaela Jill Murphy, even gave her stamp of approval, as you can see in the list of fan reactions below:
- LET’S FREAKING GO IT’S TOPH TIME 💚💚💚💚💚 -Michaela Jill Murphy

I was a huge fan of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Toph was always my favorite character. I’m really looking forward to seeing how she’s portrayed in the new Netflix series. It’s tough to say which parts of the original show will make it into the reboot, but if they can even include the often-overlooked cabbage merchant, I’m confident there will be some great moments for Toph. Reboots are always a gamble, but the new Avatar: The Last Airbender seems really good so far, and I have a feeling we’re all going to love this version of Toph, too.
Although Toph doesn’t appear much in the trailer, I’m already confident they’ve cast the perfect actress. When Miya Cech was announced, Netflix shared a heartwarming video of her explaining how much she’s dreamed of playing the role, and how excited her younger self would be. It’s clear the character is in capable and passionate hands, and the trailer confirmed that feeling.
A full trailer for the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming soon, and fans are especially eager to see Toph Beifong. The actress playing her has a tough act to follow, but it promises to be exciting to watch her bring the popular character to life.
You can now watch Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix, and the second season is expected to arrive in 2026.
