Minecraft’s Mounts of Mayhem Update Lets Players Ride Into Combat

The last major Minecraft update of 2025, called Mounts of Mayhem, is now available for both Java and Bedrock Edition players. This update lets you ride into action on mounts, but you’ll first have to defeat new enemies to earn the right to ride them. You can see it all in the launch trailer.

Camel husks appear in desert areas and are ridden by two creatures called the Parched. These riders aren’t harmed by sunlight. Players must defeat both riders before they can take control of the camel husk.

Okay, so as a player, I’ve discovered some cool things that happen at night! You can run into zombie horses with zombie riders – spooky, right? But if you beat the rider, you can actually claim the horse as your own! Then there are these nautiluses you can find underwater. Normal ones are pretty peaceful and you can win them over with a pufferfish. But watch out for zombie nautiluses! They have riders too, so you’ll need to defeat them first. The good news is, just like regular nautiluses, zombie ones love pufferfish, so that part’s easy!

Players can now use spears in both mounted and close-quarters combat. Applying the ‘lunge’ enchantment to a spear gives a speed boost during attacks, letting players quickly reach and engage their enemies.

This update adds a great new feature: horses can now swim! This means you can ride your horse across water without having to go around it. Plus, you can now protect your horse with even stronger Netherite armor. To make it, combine diamond horse armor with a Netherite ingot using a smithing template.

Expect more updates to the main Minecraft game in 2026. Before then, a new mobile game called Minecraft Blast is being tested in a few countries. It will be free to download and play, though we don’t know exactly when it will be available yet.
