‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Poster Teased Major Will Byers Reveal

Fans of Stranger Things are known for carefully examining every detail to guess what will happen next in the show. Noah Schnapp, who plays a main character, recently revealed that Netflix actually dropped a hint about a big plot point earlier this year. According to Schnapp, the way the characters were positioned on the Season 5 poster was a clue that Will Byers will have a significant role in the final episodes. This hidden message has been available to fans since the poster was released on October 31st – for almost a month now!

In Season 5, episode “Sorcerer,” Will (Noah Schnapp) unexpectedly develops telekinetic abilities, just like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). This surprises his friends and especially worries Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Though Will has always been a key character, he’s often taken a backseat, and this new development will have significant consequences as the story concludes.

Speaking with Glamour, Schnapp explained this tease on the poster:

I’ve always loved how they really capture the feeling of the current time period and show where each character is at emotionally and story-wise. You can definitely see his strength reflected in it, and while they wanted to avoid anything too graphic, they pushed the boundaries as much as possible. Everything they do is so carefully considered and purposeful, it’s amazing.

What Else Can ‘Stranger Things’ Fans Expect This Season?

The first season of the show centered around the disappearance of Will Byers, and uncovered how he was kidnapped and taken to a strange alternate dimension later called the “Upside Down.” Although Will was rescued by the end of the season, he coughed up a mysterious object, hinting that his ordeal wasn’t truly finished and he remained connected to this other world.

I’ve been a huge fan of this series for years, and watching our heroes battle creatures like the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer, and ultimately Vecna has been incredible. It was so satisfying to finally see everything tie together with Vecna as the source of it all, controlling things through this hive mind. While Eleven’s powers have always been central to the story, I always felt there was something more to Will and his connection to the Upside Down. We got hints throughout the seasons, but Season 5, Volume 1 truly blew me away – Eleven showed off amazing abilities, of course, but it was Will’s powers that really took my breath away. It was such a powerful reveal!

These episodes revealed more than just unexpected twists. We learned that Kali, also known as Eight (played by Linnea Berthelsen), was captured during a military operation and her abilities are being controlled. With Eleven now aware of Kali’s existence, it seems likely that Eleven, Will, and Kali will team up to fight Vecna, though the details of their confrontation remain to be seen.

Stranger Things Season 5, Vol. 2 premieres on Netflix on Dec. 25 and the finale debuts on Dec. 31.
