Apple has released a major update to its iPhone software, called iOS 26. It includes a fresh look with a new “Liquid Glass” design and a change in how iPhones are named. Here’s a list of which devices are getting the update.
In June 2025, the company based in Cupertino, California, launched iOS 26, which included a new design and a revised naming system.
With the launch of the iPhone Air and iPhone 17, Apple is also releasing a new operating system featuring an updated look and feel with its ‘Liquid Glass’ design.

When does iOS 26 release?
Apple has announced that iOS 26 will be available starting Monday, September 15, 2025. While the precise release time isn’t confirmed, updates typically become available around 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

With the launch of iOS 26, Apple is discontinuing support for its older iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max models. Also, the latest Apple Intelligence features – including advanced image processing, writing assistance, and real-time translation – will only work on iPhone 15 Pro models and later.
