The new Precious Paths season in Pokémon Go introduces exciting changes to the game, including brand-new Pokémon, special events, and plenty of opportunities for adventure.
The new season kicks off an exciting chapter with fresh Pokémon appearing, rotating Egg pools, the return of popular Legendary Pokémon, and bonuses that reward exploration. Niantic has planned a lot for the next three months, including events based on themes, special research tasks, and perks available to players in certain regions – all connected to the story of Precious Paths.
Prepare for the arrival of Gigantamax Meowth, Dynamax Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan! A new Battle League season is also starting, along with lots of other exciting updates. These major additions are making this one of the most content-packed periods in Pokémon GO history.

Pokemon Go Precious Paths season: Dates & time
Just a heads-up, the new ‘Precious Paths’ season kicks off on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, at 10 AM local time, and will run until Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, also at 10 AM local time. I’m already marking my calendar!
Building on the success of the Tales of Transformation season, this update adds Dripplin and Hydrapple to the game, alongside many Pokémon that can Dynamax and Gigantamax. It also introduces the brand-new Resolute Form of the Mythical Pokémon Keldeo, and a variety of other Pokémon to discover.
Gigantamax Meowth
Ever since the ‘Max Out’ season added Dynamax and Gigantamax forms to Pokémon Go, players have been encountering more Pokémon that can transform into these powerful sizes.
Players will be able to encounter and battle Gigantamax Meowth for the very first time in Niantic games! If you defeat it at a Power Spot, you’ll have a chance to catch it.
Plus, Dynamax Hitmonlee and Dynamax Hitmonchan are joining the game, and we can expect even more additions in the future.
Pokemon debuts
This season will showcase several Pokémon from the Paldea region, including Nacli and its evolutions, Naclstack and Garganacl.
The game will feature new Pokémon from the Galarian region, including Clobbopus and Grapploct. Plus, Sudowoodo and Charjabug will get special holiday-themed costumes.
Special & Masterwork Research
A new, multi-part Special Research story will be available starting December 2, 2025, and running through March 3, 2025. Over the next three months, new chapters of the Research will become available with special events, so be sure to check back often!
Players can also buy a new Special Research taskline, called Masterwork Research: A Precious Catch, for $7.99, or the equivalent price in your region.
Once you finish, you’ll receive a Master Ball as a reward. It’s a rare and powerful item, so use it carefully!
Research Breakthrough
Okay, so I’ve been doing these Field Research tasks, and after finishing a bunch, I get a ‘Research Breakthrough’ – basically a special Pokémon encounter. Right now, the Pokémon I can run into after that breakthrough are one of these guys:
- Galarian Mr. Mime*
- Lapras*
- Snorlax*
- Honedge
- Sinistea*
- Dreepy
Note: Pokemon marked with an (*) can be encountered as Shiny.
Wild encounters rotations
The upcoming Precious Paths season will introduce new Pokémon to the game, appearing in environments that match where they’re naturally found and as described in the Pokédex. Niantic hasn’t announced exactly which Pokémon will appear yet, but we’ll update this guide as soon as they do.

Community Days
The following dates will have Community Days during Pokemon Go’s newest season:
- December 6–7: All previously featured Pokemon during 2025
- January 4: Community Day Classic

Go Battle League
The Go Battle League will return with the regular Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues.
We’ll also be hosting exciting special events like the Scroll Cup, Holiday Cup, the 2026 Championship Series Cup, Love Cup, and others.
Seasonal bonuses
The Precious Paths season will feature the following bonuses:
- x1 additional Special Trade per day.
- Increased Stardust for the first catch of the day.
- Increased friendship bonus damage dealt by Pokemon in Raids.
Go Pass
The GO Pass is a temporary tracker that helps you follow your progress through the Precious Paths season challenges. Completing these challenges earns you Go Points, which let you climb the ranks and unlock exciting rewards. If you want to speed things up, you can also purchase the Go Pass Deluxe.

During the Precious Paths season, players can look forward to fresh sticker collections, special displays called PokeStop Showcases at various PokeStops, and new discounts on item boxes in the in-game store.
