Persona 5: The Phantom X version 2.5 update adds Masaki “Cherish” Ashiya and Tycoon card game

Atlus has released a new update for both the Japanese and English versions of Persona 5: The Phantom X, bringing the game to version 2.5. The update adds a new playable character, Masaki “Cherish” Ashiya, and introduces the Tycoon card game, which was originally featured in Persona 5 Royal.

Just so you know, Cherish will eventually be added to the main character selection available through the gacha system. However, Sega and Atlus plan to release her in the West six months after she appears in East Asian versions, with another chance to get her planned for about three months after that initial release.

This update introduces Synergy episodes with Miyu Sahara. As you play through her story, you’ll unlock new gifts that all your confidants will enjoy. This is special because Miyu’s Synergy wasn’t available in earlier versions released in East Asia; she appeared after Kira Kitazato’s Synergy, just like in the global version 2.2 update.

This update also includes some major new content! You can now play a new City Life episode featuring Tetsunojo Shishida in Shinjuku, tackle 10 new Technician stages in the Velvet Trials, and unlock three new Rank VIII Personas: Vishnu, Shiva, and Sandalphon. These powerful Personas can be obtained by exchanging Repression Medals IV earned from completing the Trials of the Sea of Souls.

You can find details about the latest updates in the stream below. This includes information about Version 2.6, launching December 6th, which will introduce the character Haru “Noir” Okumura and continue the Persona 5 crossover story. Players in Southeast Asia will likely receive these updates about a week after those in Japan and globally. Persona 5: The Phantom X is now available on PC, Android, and iOS.

The “Masaki Ashiya Most Wanted Gacha” event featuring 5-star Masaki Ashiya and 4-star characters Riko Tanemura, Kiyoshi Kurotani, and Motoha Arai will begin on November 25th.

Several new weapons are coming to the game through gacha banners, including the 5-star weapon ‘Spina Sacramenti’ from Masaki Ashiya. Four 4-star weapons will also be available: ‘Spina Caritatis’ (Masaki Ashiya), ‘Moonlight Needle’ (Riko Tanemura), ‘Death Stinger’ (Kiyoshi Kurotani), and ‘Crime and Punishment’ (Motoha Arai).

Players who’ve beaten the first Palace boss can now play Tycoon, a 4-player card game from Persona 5 Royal! The goal is to be the first to get rid of all your cards. You can play in Classic or Ranked matches to earn Tycoon Points, which you can then trade for rewards like Gold Tickets, training items, new characters, and more. A special Tycoon event is also available, offering Tycoon Medals, Meta Jewels, Tycoon Points, and Fortune Revelations.

Players level 25 and up can now face off against the challenging bosses Seth and Trumpeter! Defeating these bosses at higher difficulty levels offers better rewards, like Retrograde Cards, training items, and Joy Medals.

The Thieves’ Secrets event is now live! You can access it through the Thieves’ Secrets menu in Normal, Challenge, and Limited modes. In Normal mode, you’ll get to try out the 5-star Phantom Thief Masaki Ashiya as part of your team, completely free. Once you finish all the Normal stages, the Challenge and Limited modes will become available. As rewards, you can earn Fragrance of Iris, Purple Crystals, Skill Incense M, and Secret Tickets.
