I was excited to hear that one of the actors playing a villain in the upcoming Superman movie is now joining a new Marvel Studios streaming series! It seems like more and more actors are working on projects for both Marvel and DC these days, which is really cool. It looks like this trend is going to keep going with the next release in Marvel’s Phase 6 lineup next year.
Zlatko Burić is joining the cast of the new Disney+ series Wonder Man, Marvel Studios has announced. As seen in the first trailer for the show—revealed at New York Comic-Con 2025—Burić will play Von Kovak, a celebrated movie director within the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Hollywood.

The trailer reveals that Kovak intends to direct a remake of Wonder Man, bringing the hero’s story to the big screen as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also shows him working with Yahya Abdul-Mateen, who plays Simon Williams, and Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, as they begin filming and discuss his vision for a blockbuster movie.

Viewers might remember Burić as Vasil Ghurkos, the villain from the recent Superman movie. Ghurkos was the dishonest president of Boravia – a fictional nation also connected to another of Superman’s enemies – and he started a war with Jarhanpur. Superman stopped the conflict, but it caused international problems. Later, Hawkgirl from the Justice Gang confronted Ghurkos and fatally dropped him from a great height.

Scheduled for release in 2026, Wonder Man is the first new project kicking off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sir Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Goose, Arian Moayed, and Ed Harris, and follows Simon Williams as he tries to land a life-altering role in a film remake. Wonder Man will premiere on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
DC Actors’ Impact on Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man

Zlatko Burić isn’t the only DC actor now working on a Marvel project, and he definitely won’t be the last. Like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – who played the villain Black Manta in the Aquaman films from the DC Extended Universe – many actors are now appearing in both Marvel and DC movies.
Joining the growing list of stars working with Marvel Studios, these actors will be featured in a huge wave of releases planned for 2026, bringing back some of Marvel’s most iconic characters. 2025 saw several actors with experience in DC films—like Pedro Pascal from Wonder Woman 1984 joining The Fantastic Four: First Steps—and this trend of actors moving between universes is likely to continue.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about Wonder Man, especially whether Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s character will fully become a superhero in the series. All eight episodes will be released at once, which is adding to the excitement. Fans are eager to see how Simon Williams’ story as both an actor and a hero fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how it will affect future storylines.
With Marvel bringing on more experienced creators from other superhero films, fans will expect the franchise to keep producing excellent stories both in cinemas and on Disney+.
