Beware! Plot twists from “The Wrong Paradise” are coming up. Tread carefully when reading further and ensure you have a Netflix subscription to enjoy this romantic comedy.
I’ve never been a fan of the reality TV show “The Bachelor“, as its rapid engagements and impulsive confessions give me pause, not to mention the high rate of post-show breakups. When I learned that the romantic comedy “The Wrong Paris” was slated for Netflix release in 2025, I found myself intrigued to see if it would resolve the love story between Trey and Dawn, which initially unfolded on a TV show reminiscent of “The Bachelor“.
As a devoted cinephile, let me share an intriguing twist from a recent watch: In the series I was engrossed in, it turned out that Miranda Cosgrove’s character, Dawn, initially joined the show purely for financial reasons – to cover her school expenses. However, unexpectedly, she ended up developing feelings for Pierson Fodé’s Trey.
In my opinion, the movie skillfully resolved all its conflicts in an engaging and sensible manner. Dawn understood that declaring her love for Trey on TV could appear as a money-grabbing move, and I found it commendable how this aspect was sensibly handled. Moreover, I was pleased with the way Trey didn’t immediately accept her confession and instead, she seemed to truly grasp the situation. In essence, the self-awareness demonstrated in their interaction is crucial.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I found myself drawn even deeper into the plot when I discovered Dawn had selflessly forfeited her hard-earned money to rejoin the show. Despite my initial shock and perhaps a hint of heartache, I knew it was crucial not to stand in the way of her art school aspirations. That’s why I insisted she retrieved her money – a decision born out of thoughtfulness rather than selfishness.
However, as the cameras began to roll, an unexpected revelation hit me. I realized that my feelings for Dawn transcended beyond friendship and I found myself uttering the words, “You can have me, Paris (France).” Yes, it was a bold move – but one filled with honesty and ardor. And who knows? Maybe it will lead to an unforgettable adventure together.
You don’t need to decide whether to join us or go to Paris – I have an idea that could allow you to experience both! While neither of us is being compelled to stay together, equally, we’re not being forced apart. However, there’s a twist: the prize money can’t be divided between the two of us.
Later, Trey lowered himself to one knee and offered Dawn a choice: a ring or a gold bar. Fascinated by her decision, she chose the gold bar, accepted the cash, and they became a couple, free from the glare of cameras. And I’m captivated by that selection.
As a viewer who’s seen numerous episodes of ‘The Bachelor’, I’ve always found the immediate proposal and televised weddings a bit unappealing. Instead, I prefer it when contestants accept a proposal on the show but wait for several years before officially getting married at a later date that suits them better.
As a fellow enthusiast of behind-the-scenes romances, I can’t help but be smitten by the enchanting love story of Abigail Heringer and Noah Erb from Bachelor in Paradise. Although they parted ways during Season 7 and didn’t leave as a couple, their bond was rekindled off-camera in 2021. Their journey eventually led them to tie the knot in 2024, and I am delighted to say that they are still going strong. Their love story continues to bring joy to my heart.
It seems reasonable to assume that Trey and Dawn’s narrative may have followed a comparable path, given that they were engaged off-camera, as suggested by the photos in the credits. Luckily for them, their reality TV conclusion was more favorable than Abigail and Noah’s, with both confessing their love and continuing their relationship even after the show had ended.

In much the same vein, the conclusion of Trey and Dawn’s storyline in their make-believe series echoed the fate of Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson from Bachelor Season 28. They got engaged at the end of the show that aired in early 2024, and they’re still a couple to this day (though they haven’t tied the knot yet). I wish for our fictional sweethearts to have enjoyed a life akin to Graziadei and Anderson.
To put it simply, The Wrong Paris did an exceptional job exploring the chaotic realm of reality TV dating, and it concluded in a way that seemed genuine. Unlike many shows where couples rush into marriage during filming, these characters opted for a more realistic approach. Dawn pursued her art studies, they deepened their relationship off-screen, and eventually, when ready, they progressed at their own pace in their unique “happily ever after.
