The actress who plays Cindy Lou Who in Walmart’s new Grinch commercial recently gave viewers a peek at how it was made. As the holidays approach, the story of the Grinch remains a beloved Christmas tradition for many families.
Kinley Cunningham shared photos from the set of Walmart’s Grinch commercial on Instagram. She played Mindy Lou Who, a new take on the classic character Cindy Lou Who.
Cunningham met with the team behind the commercial to look over notes and video clips from the project, which is based on the world of Whoville.
I was checking out some behind-the-scenes footage, and there’s this great shot of Taylor, the actress, getting her directions right before filming a scene in the Grinch’s cave – you know, the one way up on Mount Crumpit! It’s cool to see how they work through everything on set.
Cunningham also photographed the creative team collaborating with the background actors for the commercial, including one wearing a bright pink, fluffy wig in front of a large portrait.
The last photo she shared from the initial set was of the clapperboard used during the commercial shoot, which took place in mid-September 2025.
Cunningham also posted a photo from the commercial on Instagram, featuring her as Mindy Lou Who alongside Walton Goggins, who played the Grinch. She called working on the commercial “a dream come true” and praised Goggins as “absolutely INCREDIBLE.”

Cunningham also posted two videos showing how she became Mindy Lou Who. One video quickly showed the makeup process, which she said took around ninety minutes to complete for the commercial.
In her latest video, she revealed a Labubu plush that looked like Mindy, playfully naming it “Mindy Lou-bubu.”

Upcoming Christmas Releases for 2025 Holiday Season
With Christmas decorations already appearing in stores like Walmart, there’s also plenty of festive entertainment coming to screens this year. Disney+ is going all-in on the holidays with a dedicated Christmas channel featuring beloved classics like Jingle All the Way and Home Alone, as well as newer favorites like The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Disney+ is adding two original Christmas movies this year. The Jonas Brothers star in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, a film where they play themselves and try to make it home for the holidays after being stranded in London. The other new movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (premiering December 5th), is based on the popular book series and follows Greg Heffley as he clashes with his dad.
