Pope Leo opens rave to celebrate Archbishop’s birthday with priest DJ

Pope Leo XIV unexpectedly showed up at a rave party celebrating Archbishop Bernard Bober’s birthday. A Catholic priest was the DJ for the event.

Robert Francis Prevost, who became Pope Leo XIV in May 2025, is the first American Pope. He’s quickly becoming popular with people around the world by blending Catholic traditions with elements of modern pop culture.

Pope Francis recently referred to the teenage internet celebrity Carlo Acutis as ‘God’s influencer’ and made him the first saint of the millennial generation. It also came to light that the Pope is related to several famous figures, including Justin Bieber, Madonna, and Angelina Jolie, which surprised many on social media.

He’s become popular online again after showing up at a rave on November 8th to deliver a birthday message for Archbishop Bernard Bober, who was turning 75.

A video of a rave is quickly spreading online, showing Pope Leo unexpectedly starting the event with a motivating speech. He encouraged everyone to share their beliefs, and perfectly timed his closing ‘Amen’ just as the music began.

The party happened outdoors, right in front of St. Elisabeth’s Cathedral – a historic building from the 1300s in Košice, Slovakia. People gathered to enjoy the music and got excited when Pope Leo appeared on the video screens.

The popular online show featured DJ sets by Padre Guilherme, a Catholic priest who has been a leader in his faith since 1999. He began DJing a few years ago and started streaming during the pandemic, blending techno music with traditional and religious folk songs.

According to Classic FM, Guilherme observed that raves united people from all walks of life, and he feels music, similar to a common religion, has the power to connect us.

You can find his music on Spotify, where he has more than 86,000 monthly listeners enjoying his remixes of classics like Ave Maria and Adoramus.

People quickly pointed out that Pope Francis is from Chicago, the birthplace of House music. One Instagram user celebrated this connection, writing, “The Pope is from Chicago, where House music was born! Get ready for some electronic music!”

“We got the Vatican dropping raves before GTA 6 bro,” another joked.

“This is the most Chicagoan thing ever!” another exclaimed.
