The second season of Squid Game: The Challenge ended with a shocking twist: a player voluntarily left the competition right before the last game. Now, that player is sharing why they made such a surprising decision. Be warned: spoilers follow…
After a close final round of ‘Red Light, Green Light,’ Perla, known as Player 072, won the title of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, beating out Vanessa (Player 017), Steven (Player 183), and Dajah (Player 302).
Okay, so before the very end of Squid Game, something totally blew my mind. During the coin game, Player 398 – Trinity – started crying and just told everyone which hand had the wrong coin. It basically meant he was giving up, sending himself home! I, along with everyone else watching, was completely shocked. It was such a weird and unexpected move.
Though other competitors asked him to quit and his actions sparked debate among viewers, Trinity’s elimination on Squid Game became the most talked-about moment of Season 2. He recently explained his reasoning in a new interview with Netflix.
Trinity says “ramifications” of Squid Game decision are still hitting home

Wow, after watching the finale of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, I heard the five finalists talking about everything they went through. It was especially interesting to hear Trinity explain what the host called his big, dramatic exit – or, as he put it, his ‘self-immolation.’
Trinity describes herself as highly competitive, explaining that her college tennis experience fueled her confidence. She went into the competition expecting to win and had specific goals: finish in the Top 50, secure a desirable bedroom, and get an interview. She exceeded her own expectations, only realizing the extent of her success when the rules were explained to her while seated for the competition.
I noticed Vanessa seemed really distressed at the end, repeatedly asking what she should do. Although it wasn’t shown on camera, she also asked for a drink of water. As for Steven, he seemed relaxed. I especially connected with Dejah’s storyline as a single mother, because I grew up in a similar situation with three sisters and a single parent.

I felt confident that everything would be alright because of my faith in Jesus Christ. I believe he always helps people through difficult times and ultimately prevails.
Trinity admits it wasn’t an easy choice, and she’s still processing the consequences.
The host wondered if reviewing the episode made Trinity reconsider her decision, but she explained that she felt good about it. She was confident she’d made the right choice, saying that continuing would have caused her stress and kept her up at night.
