Big news for baseball fans, especially Elizabeth Olsen! The way we watch games is changing. For 35 years, ESPN broadcast national MLB games, but that ended in February. Now, Major League Baseball has partnered with both Disney’s sports channel and NBC. You’ll now find Sunday night games on NBC Sports, which already airs NFL games in the fall and NBA games in the winter, completing their year-round Sunday night sports lineup.
ESPN now owns MLB.TV, meaning more out-of-market baseball games will be available on the ESPN streaming app. NBC Sports will broadcast a special Sunday morning game package, available on Peacock and NBCSN.
Netflix is expanding into live sports broadcasting. This year, it will stream the Home Run Derby, one opening-night game, and a special game played in Dyersville, Iowa – the location where the movie Field of Dreams was filmed.
Fox and TBS will continue to broadcast most postseason baseball games, with a few Friday night games available on Apple TV. This current broadcasting agreement lasts until 2028, after which Major League Baseball will open up bidding for new contracts.
