Embark Studios, known for the popular game Arc Raiders, has announced that their 2023 title, The Finals, will no longer be available on one platform.
Okay, so The Finals is dropping support for PS4 when Season 10 hits on March 18, 2026. Basically, the developers at Embark want to focus all their energy on the newer consoles and PC, which makes sense. If you’re playing on PS4 and want to keep enjoying the game, you’ll have to upgrade to a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or switch over to PC. It’s a bummer, but they need to prioritize where they’re putting their resources.
Good news for us gamers! Whatever progress I’ve made in the game, and anything I’ve bought, is tied to my Embark ID, so it’ll follow me if I ever switch to a different platform. The developers also said they really appreciate all the PlayStation 4 players and that they hope to see us in the Arena soon!
The Finals wasn’t originally available on Xbox One, so players on that console won’t be affected by the game’s move to newer systems. Currently, you can play The Finals on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it will remain available on PlayStation 4 until March 16th.
The Finals became available on PS4 in December 2024, roughly a year after its initial release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in December 2023.
Arc Raiders has become a huge success, selling over 4 million copies and currently topping the charts as Steam’s best-selling game. It’s also one of the most popular games on the platform, recently reaching over 480,000 concurrent players on Steam. The game’s use of artificial intelligence has sparked a new discussion about the role of AI in video games.
