The Christophers
Steven Soderbergh, 100 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=m2d1x7VuDmo
Sir Ian McKellen plays Julian Sklar, a private painter who began a collection called The Christophers in the 1990s. After his health declines, his children ask Lori Butler (Michaela Coel) to help finish the series, working with their father and then completing the paintings in his style so they can be sold later. The film, written by Ed Solomon, cleverly explores the relationship between art and commerce, and McKellen and Coel deliver fantastic performances. Available for rental or purchase on demand.

Widely considered an Oscar frontrunner, this hugely popular and critically acclaimed film (having already earned $675 million worldwide) is a must-see. The story follows a man, played by Ryan Gosling, who mysteriously finds himself alone at the edge of the universe. With the help of a new alien friend, he pieces together his forgotten mission: to save Earth. It’s a clever, funny, and heartwarming movie that proves big-budget films can still be great when made with skill and creativity. Now available to rent or buy on demand.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy
Lee Cronin, 133 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=XJ0uv-phsDk
The director of Evil Dead Rise is now tackling The Mummy, a series known for its shifting style – from the classic Boris Karloff films to the action-packed Brendan Fraser movies and, more recently, the Tom Cruise version. This new take focuses heavily on horror; in fact, with just a few tweaks, it could easily be mistaken for another Evil Dead film. Starring Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, and May Calamawy, the story centers on a family whose long-lost daughter returns home… but she’s not quite herself. If you enjoy classic Universal monsters with a healthy dose of gore, this movie is for you. Now available to rent or buy digitally.
Mother Mary
David Lowery, 112 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=ATGaqU6Srcc
This intriguing drama from A24 didn’t get much attention in theaters, but it’s worth watching at home. From the director of The Green Knight, the film explores the complex relationship between a famous pop star (Anne Hathaway) and the friend (Michaela Coel) who originally created her iconic image. They reconnect when the star needs a new look for a major performance. It’s a challenging film, but the director tackles fascinating themes with a distinctive style and visuals, making it deserving of a wider audience. Now available to rent or buy on demand.
Normal
Ben Wheatley, 91 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=5OndK0w1lYY
This movie takes the quirky tone of Fargo and injects it with action, coming from the director of Kill List and Free Fire. Bob Odenkirk proves he’s a surprising action lead as the temporary sheriff of Normal, Minnesota. A botched bank robbery reveals the town is far from ordinary, and Lena Headey and Henry Winkler join the cast. The film was a success for Magnolia Pictures, boosted by a strong promotional campaign led by Odenkirk himself. You can currently rent or buy it on demand.

This is the year’s biggest blockbuster! The movie is already nearing $1 billion worldwide, and it’s connecting with audiences of all ages. It appeals to those who grew up with it, as well as their children and even grandchildren. Honestly, the story isn’t the point – it’s all about the vibrant visuals, the things you remember from childhood, and a chance to relax and enjoy yourself for a while. You can now rent or buy it on demand.

Iron Lung
Markiplier, 125 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=IaEtA56pd_w
While other films have earned more at the box office, this movie’s success story is particularly noteworthy in 2026. Created and released independently by YouTuber Markiplier with a budget exceeding $50 million, it reached audiences in unconventional ways and initially seemed unlikely to be available for rental or purchase. However, it will now be available exclusively on YouTube Movies starting May 31st, and a physical copy is also planned – reportedly being managed and shipped from the director’s home. That makes perfect sense. It’s also coming to video-on-demand platforms.
