A 28-year-old woman allegedly posed as a high school student in New York City, but was discovered when the principal found her Facebook profile.
According to court documents, Kacy Claassen is accused of posing as a student named Shamara Rashad at Westchester Square Academy in the Bronx for approximately two weeks.
According to reports, Claassen registered for classes on April 13th, pretending to be a 16-year-old girl who had just relocated to New York from Ohio with her sister. The school even created a student ID for her using this false information.
The plan began to unravel when Principal Rich became suspicious and discovered a Facebook page that seemed to reveal the person’s true identity.

Vice reported that the account revealed Claassen’s birthdate as July 29, 1997, and featured pictures of her with a baby. It also apparently included a mention of her having a daughter.
When questioned, Claassen reportedly kept claiming to be Shamara Rashad. However, after Rich showed her a screenshot of the actual Facebook account, she supposedly admitted her true identity.
According to reports, Claassen claimed a friend pressured her into participating in a plan to fraudulently obtain additional welfare benefits from the city.
She was arrested on April 27th and faces charges of pretending to be someone else and illegally entering private property. There are also claims that she put a child at risk.
Claassen has denied the charges and was released after her initial court appearance. Her next court date is June 15th.

According to the New York Post, Claassen has previously shared that she escaped a difficult marriage and received care in a psychiatric hospital, according to sources who know her history.
NYC Schools stated that providing false information to enroll a child in school is a serious crime that goes against the principles of public education. They confirmed the NYPD is currently investigating these claims.
Students expressed confusion and concern about someone pretending to be a student, noting it was strange that a woman who appeared to be in her late twenties was able to enter the school. One student advised others to be vigilant and verify identification.
