Details about Disney’s upcoming film, Zootopia 2, are still scarce, as it’s set to premiere in cinemas this Thanksgiving. The recently unveiled teaser trailer mainly consists of visuals and quick sequences accompanied by an upbeat melody, with no dialogue. A point that has piqued fans’ interest is a cryptic hooded character, who appears to be the primary antagonist of the movie. One widely accepted and persuasive speculation is that this figure could represent Nick Wilde’s father, a character introduced in the first movie but not fully developed.

So far, Disney has only revealed two scenes from the upcoming movie “Zootopia 2” at conventions like D23 and CinemaCon, keeping most of it under wraps for the general public. The main updates have been about new characters joining the cast. Actress Quinta Brunson will voice Dr. Fuzzby, a quokka therapist, and Ke Huy Quan will portray Gary De’Snake. A fresh character has also been teased, sparking a flurry of speculation among fans.

The Mysterious Hooded Figure Is Likely The Villain Of Zootopia 2

Since the teaser trailer lacks dialogue, it’s challenging to fully comprehend the specific situation where the hooded figure seems menacing towards Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), and Gary De’Snake. However, it’s evident that they are clearly afraid of him, as they all retreat from his presence. This strongly suggests that he will likely play a central role as the main adversary in the story.

Initially, I had this notion that Gary might turn out to be the film’s antagonist, but now it appears that might not be the case at all. It seems Nick and Judy are actually working together with him, despite the fact that he’s being pursued by law enforcement. The official Disney description hints that we’ll see an alliance between Nick, Judy, and Gary, which makes me doubt Gary is the one with a questionable past as they suggest. So, it looks like there might be more to Gary’s story than initially thought!

Zootopia 2’s Villian Is Probably Nick Wilde’s Father

To start with, there’s something suspicious about this cloaked individual, their shifty demeanor makes it apparent. Their eyes, which glow ominously – a classic sign in animated movies – are reminiscent of the redditor’s theory that they might be Nick’s father.

It was decided not to include Mr. Wilde in the animated film “Zootopia”. In addition to development artwork featuring him, there is also a deleted scene where he and a young Nick Wilde try to establish a tailoring business called Suit-topia that caters to all types of animals. Given that Disney Animation has already created his likeness, it seems logical that they would consider finding a way to include him in “Zootopia 2”, if feasible.

As a cinephile, I can’t help but notice the striking similarity between Mr. Wilde and the enigmatic character featured in the trailer for Zootopia 2. In the original movie, Nick was quite guarded about his past, revealing very little and showing no interest in discussing his family background. If this new character turns out to be Nick’s father, I suspect we might learn more about their relationship as he may feel compelled to share those hidden pieces of his history.

We have a good understanding of Judy’s upbringing and childhood events, but Nick’s history remains largely unknown. It could be intriguing to delve deeper into his background, and more importantly, compel him to encounter his dad and address the issues that transpired between them.

It’s anticipated that we’ll uncover more details on the storyline and this character in the primary trailer for Zootopia 2, which is expected to be released soon. However, if speculation is accurate regarding this being Nick’s father, it’s possible Disney will save the big reveal for the movie premiere itself, keeping it a secret until then.
