Approximately four weeks ago, The Indie Stone unveiled Build 42 of Project Zomboid, incorporating features such as the ragdoll system. Recently, though, a volatile version 42.9.0 has emerged, ushering in a novel zombie spawn mechanism.
New features and changes in Project Zomboid 42.9.0
In the following, you will see some key modifications that have been made. For a comprehensive look at all the improvements, please refer to the official announcement released by The Indie Stone studio.
- So far, after loading the zombie group map, they usually appeared in similar numbers and more or less in the same places. Currently, the zombie spawn map will be generated automatically. The devs named the new system Zed Spawn Heat Map and made the spawn of the undead on the map dependent on the level of noise, range, and a special multiplier. For example, there will be more zombies in the military area, because it is a large territory, producing more sounds. Fewer walking corpses will appear in less-populated areas.
- Explosive materials, such as pipe bombs and aerosols, are now much more effective in inflicting damage and killing zombies.
- New hit animations have been added for the chest, arm, left and right sides, and also from the back.
- New sound effects for zombies hitting wood have been added to help players better distinguish them from those banging on doors.
- The state of the vehicle’s active alarm is now being saved and restored, so there is no longer the possibility of exiting the game and reloading it in order to cancel it.
- The studio also fixed many bugs and improved the balance of gameplay.
It appears that Project Zomboid, which entered early access back in 2013, doesn’t seem to be moving towards a full release by its developers any time in the near future.
