Zelda: Majora’s Mask Remake Graphics Comparison Leaves Gamers Stunned

I absolutely love The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Some people thought it was strange when it first came out, but it’s become a widely cherished game, and was even remastered for the 3DS.

While many are hoping for a complete modern update on the Switch 2, the game is also getting a significant refresh on X, and players are really enjoying it.

Zelda: Majora’s Mask Has Never Looked This Good

And It Was Already Stylized

A refreshed version of Majora’s Mask is available on X, offering a slightly sharper and more modern look while staying true to the original game’s aesthetic. Creator Usama Javaid describes it as a combination of updated textures by nerrel, a 3D model of Link as a child, and a CRT visual effect.

Fans are really impressed with this CRT filter, with one saying it’s so good, they might only use this one instead of an actual CRT monitor. They praised its quality and design.

Honestly, Majora’s Mask still looks great. It doesn’t really need much updating because the original art style and the world of Termina are timeless. While Ocarina of Time is also a classic, the Zelda team went above and beyond with Majora’s Mask, really focusing on creating a game with a strong, unique personality.

This game is truly one-of-a-kind, and that’s largely thanks to its solid core design. Many of its characters have also become iconic figures within both the Zelda universe and the broader RPG community.

Will A Majora’s Mask Remake Follow Ocarina Of Time?

In A Perfect World It Would

Rumors are swirling about a remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, potentially releasing this year, and fans are now hoping Nintendo will also remake Majora’s Mask. Because Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask were released close together and Majora’s Mask directly followed Ocarina of Time‘s story, it would make sense for Nintendo to treat them as a pair and remake both.

After playing Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask is a great next step, as it deals with more mature themes and has a distinctly unsettling atmosphere. Despite potentially being just a quick follow-up to capitalize on the success of its predecessor, Majora’s Mask is remarkably unique. I often like to play Majora’s Mask right after finishing Ocarina of Time because the two games complement each other so well.

As a huge Zelda fan, I always tell people that if you play Ocarina of Time, you absolutely have to play Majora’s Mask afterwards. Seriously, you’ll miss out on seeing Link’s whole story and how he grows as a character if you skip it! It really feels like a continuation, and it’s a shame to not experience that full journey.
