The popular children’s sci-fi series “Space Nova” is back for another exciting season! This upcoming season will consist of 15 thrilling episodes, each lasting 24 minutes, totaling a whopping 41 episodes in all. ZDF Studios is handling the international distribution of the show, except for Australia and New Zealand. The production company behind “Space Nova” is SLR Productions.

2021 saw a diverse array of platforms acquiring the rights to the first season of our show. Amazon (U.K., Italy), Globosat (Brazil), Changzhou (China), Common Sense Networks (Canada, U.S.), SVT (Sweden), HBO (Pacific), Middle East News and RTP (Portugal) were some of the enthusiastic buyers who joined us on this cinematic journey, with many others also hopping aboard!

As a film enthusiast, I’ve been thrilled to see “Space Nova” make waves on the international awards scene! This animated masterpiece has taken home top honors at prestigious festivals such as the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival in 2022, the Australian Writer’s Guild Awards in both 2020 and 2021, and the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2021. Not only that, but it’s also earned nominations at Cartoons on the Bay, Australia’s Director’s Guild Awards, Australia’s Screen Producer’s Association, India’s Golden Bee International Children’s Festival, Germany’s Prix Jeunesse, and the International Animation Film Festival Golden Kuker. It’s a true testament to its quality that it’s been recognized by such a diverse range of prestigious organizations!

In the year 2162, Jet and Adelaide Nova, two daring siblings, are enjoying their lives aboard a space station, joining their parents on extraordinary space voyages. These fearless adventurers spend their days exploring uncharted planets, riding solar storms, and seeking out alien life forms.

Arne Lohmann, Junior Vice President at ZDF Studios, commented: “‘Space Nova’ offers everything you could ask for: lovable characters, compelling narratives that spark creativity, and exceptional animation quality.

Suzanne Ryan, the head of SLR Productions and the show’s executive producer, stated: “The popularity of ‘Space Nova’ has motivated us to create a more exhilarating space journey tailored for our younger viewers.

Towards the culmination of Season 1, the Novas encountered extraterrestrial beings known as the Stardustians. However, the duo Jet and Adelaide Nova are about to embark on an even more thrilling journey when a young Stardustian named Ziggy shows up at Luna Port, eager to understand humans better.

The course of events becomes chaotic as the Novas embark on a trip to Stardustia, accompanied by Ziggy. Unfortunately, their spacecraft is seized by Judgebot, an adversary of Luna Port, who intends to harness the potent stardust power for his robot uprising against humans.

Amidst the pandemonium, Ziggy is propelled to the most distant corners of the cosmos, causing a ripple effect that spirals events out of order. The cosmos is disrupted, and it’s only Ziggy who holds the key to restoring balance.

Currently, the Novas are tasked with an important objective: they must join forces with Sol, who is in the process of mastering his Stardustian abilities, as well as their new companions, Ulan and Neemti. Together, they will search for Ziggy to aid him in closing a potentially harmful intergalactic fissure before time expires.

Space Nova” is an original production from SLR Productions, collaboratively produced with Giggle Garage; it’s been commissioned by ABC Australia and funded by Screen Australia and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

ZDF Studios doesn’t manage distribution for Australia and New Zealand, instead, that task falls to ACTF.
