YouTube’s Save A Fox founder Mikayla Raines dies from suicide after online harassment

YouTuber and founder of Save A Fox rescue, Mikayla Raines, has died after taking her own life.

Her husband, Ethan Raines, shared devastating news via a YouTube video posted on June 23 to the Save A Fox channel, causing many viewers to feel deeply saddened.

Ethan delivered an emotional speech lasting about eleven minutes, highlighting the tireless efforts of Mikayla in caring for a diverse range of animals – from foxes and pine martens to jackals – at her animal rescue center.

Moreover, he emphasized that Mikayla had faced challenges such as autism, depression, and borderline personality disorder. He went on to say that due to these issues, she frequently sought various forms of therapy to manage her condition. Additionally, he noted that she tried numerous mood stabilizers and medications in an effort to find relief.

Ethan mentioned that nothing appeared to offer any relief, and basic tasks proved challenging for her. From an external perspective, it was impossible to guess the turmoil inside her mind, but even simple interactions seemed to push her beyond her limits.

Save A Fox founder was victim of harassment campaign

Currently, her spouse disclosed that Mikayla had experienced cyberbullying from individuals she was acquainted with in her private circle, along with other animal shelters.

Consistently, they propagated absurd allegations and gossip, which deeply affected Mikayla due to her compassionate nature,” he clarified. “It caused her significant distress. The prolonged anguish of being targeted by others took a heavy toll on her.

This time, the situation escalated beyond bounds. Overwhelmed by her emotions, she chose to end her journey. It’s heart-wrenching to think about a person so compassionate towards animals, who had to face such an overwhelming amount of negative attention.

“Why?” he asked, through tears. “That’s all I can ask, is why?”

Mikayla departs, leaving Ethan, their young daughter Freya, and several animals under her care at the Save a Fox sanctuary, behind.

As a passionate animal lover, I was deeply saddened and shocked by the heartbreaking news that’s swept through our community. One fellow supporter expressed their grief on Instagram: “Our rescue family mourns the loss of such an extraordinary and dedicated spirit. Ethan, your courage in sharing this sad truth is truly admirable. Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to you, dear Freya, and the entire SAF family during this difficult time.

If only she realized the HUGE INFLUENCE her spirit has… It’s beyond me how such a cruel society exists… I’m utterly astonished. Persevere, for what you’ve accomplished is incredibly important, someone else added.
