YouTube tests two-person Premium plan in new pilot program
According to Money Control, YouTube is offering users in certain nations the opportunity to sign up for a two-user subscription plan.
In the countries India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, the latest tier allows the main Premium account owner to grant benefits to another resident of their household, provided they are at least 13 years old.
In essence, this implies that both accounts will enjoy Premium status, maintain separate viewing histories, and share subscription benefits, all while dividing the cost – much like how Spotify’s Premium Duo plan operates.
As an enthusiast, I’d like to share a comparison of pricing plans for an Indian service. For solo users, the Premium plan is just $1.70 USD each month. If you’re sharing with someone, there’s a two-person plan priced at $2.50 per month. However, if you’ve got a larger family, the family plan might be more suitable at $3.50 monthly, and it allows up to five family members to join in.
As a devoted follower, I’m excited about the prospect of this plan reaching the U.S., as it seems to maintain a comparable pricing strategy at just $19. This is significantly less expensive compared to shelling out $28 for separate Premium subscriptions, making it an attractive choice!
