YouTuber works his real-life job from Skyrim thanks to VR

If you’re tired of the monotony of working from home, this YouTuber may have the answer – he’s figured out how to do his regular workday inside the video game Skyrim!

Even after 14 years, Skyrim players continue to discover creative and surprising ways to experience the game. Whether it’s a player determined to eliminate every character or the vast number of mods allowing you to ride fantastical creatures, the game offers almost limitless possibilities.

It might seem impossible to have a normal job when magic and dragons exist, but YouTuber ‘habie 147’ has shown it’s possible… with a little help from virtual reality.

Skyrim fan works his 9-5 job from Tamriel

He began this as a way to stop himself from constantly checking his phone and getting distracted while he worked. He hoped that a beautiful and peaceful environment would help him focus and become more productive.

He used Steam VR to create a makeshift office at a campsite. While there, he focused on key tasks like scheduling marketing emails and completing a PowerPoint presentation, with the most important goal being to keep his job.

Things were going smoothly until a thief attacked him. He then sought a quiet spot by a creek to work and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the water, but unfortunately, a dragon soon appeared and ruined the tranquility.

To escape the constantly appearing enemies, habie147 went down into the underground area of Blackreach. He was surprised by how productive he became, realizing he didn’t even feel the need to check his phone.

The constant, irritating noise became unbearable, so he left to find a place that was both secluded like a cave and lovely like a magical forest.

He decided to work from a mountaintop, naturally. He carried his laptop to the snowy peak and, using code, created a beautiful aurora borealis overhead. The atmosphere was perfect – he was able to respond to messages and even take a call while looking out over a view reminiscent of the Skyrim landscape.

I was watching this video and the creator, habie147, actually made this crazy setup work! But here’s the funny part – the VR headset was seriously heavy. He said he got through the whole day and even felt more productive than usual, but by the end, his face was aching so much he thought it was going to fall off! It’s hilarious, but also makes me wonder if it’s worth the discomfort.

If you’re feeling burnt out working from home and don’t mind wearing headphones constantly, perhaps it’s time to trade your home office for a change of scenery – like the city of Whiterun.
