YouTuber with 2M subs forced to delete channel after MMA fight loss

The popular South Korean YouTuber, Banzz, has decided to close down his channel which boasts more than 2 million subscribers, following his defeat in an MMA match against comedian Yoon Hyung-bin. This decision comes as a result of a viral wager where the loser would have to delete their YouTube channel.

On June 28, a crucial match unfolded at Jangchung Arena in Seoul during Goobne Road FC 073. Banzz’s opponent, swiftly within the first minute and forty-two seconds of the initial round, ended the contest by Technical Knockout (TKO). This unfortunate turn of events left Banzz with no alternative but to honor his wager.

As reported by Allkpop, following his decisive actions, Yoon Hyung-bin appeared to carry a sense of remorse. In reflection, he stated that deactivating his YouTube channel might be excessive. Prior to making light of the situation, he mentioned a potential return to posting videos on Bannzz channel.

He added: “My heart feels heavy… maybe putting one’s livelihood on the line was too much.”

Banzz reflects ahead of deleting channel

A day following the fight, Banzz posted his final video on the channel. He expressed, “This video marks the end of my channel. During my workout routine, I envisioned myself stepping onto the stage of Road FC,” he shared. “I made a wager with Yoon Hyung-bin about deleting this very channel, and regrettably, I came up short.

After taking a significant risk, I plan to honor my commitment. I’ll be removing this channel exactly one week from today, specifically on July 7.

He shared that for the past 12 years, he’s been posting all his videos on this channel, making it almost like a personal diary. He mentioned that despite the channel being shut down, he’s decided to return to the roots and begin anew, starting from scratch.

As a passionate viewer, I’ve seen instances where a YouTuber has taken a significant risk with their channel, and it happened to me back in March 2024. That was when Airrack made a daring wager with MrBeast – if he failed to upload a video every single day of the year, MrBeast would have the power to delete his account permanently.
