YouTuber rescued after visit to Mount Everest goes horribly wrong

A YouTube personality named Spanish found himself in need of rescue following his trek up Mount Everest, which left him severely ill.

In June 2025, the 38-year-old Australian YouTube personality shared a video detailing his spontaneous trip to the Himalayas where he got a glimpse of Mount Everest.

As a gamer, scaling this towering peak feels like embarking on a high-stakes quest. Months of grinding and leveling up are essential before I even dare to approach the base camp. Once there, it’s a grueling, week-long grind just to inch my way towards the summit. The mountain itself is a formidable adversary, testing my endurance and pushing me to my limits. At 2500 meters, altitude sickness starts rearing its head, making every step a potential risk. But I press on, determined to adapt and conquer this towering challenge one breath at a time.

Instead of driving or taking public transport, Spanish opted for a helicopter ride directly to the Everest View Hotel, which sits at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level. Within moments, they began feeling unwell.

Despite not being physically on the mountain itself, rushing to the hotel left the Australian with a bitter feeling.

He mentioned feeling dizzy right away as he stepped off the helicopter at the hotel,” he said. “Later within an hour, the YouTube personality confessed he couldn’t leave his bed, was having trouble breathing, and felt chilly.

He stated that things are rapidly deteriorating, saying “I’m struggling, I can hardly catch my breath, my head is pounding, and I’m feeling cold. Trying to send a voice message to one of my colleagues made me anxious, causing a panic attack.

Following an unsuccessful hike along a nearby path, Spanish found himself returning to the Everest View Hotel, where he requested the team to check his oxygen saturation. The reading displayed a critically low level of 83%, triggering an urgent call for a helicopter.

He expressed that he needed to descend the mountain immediately as he felt the urgent need to leave this place because he was close to fainting.

It’s not a new attempt by an influencer to conquer Everest; back in 2024, the French YouTube personality Inoxtag went offline for half a year during his preparations for the ascent, and successfully completed his endeavor in September.
