YouTuber legally ‘dies’ to get $50 refund from airline

In an attempt to secure a refund from an airline, YouTube personality Max Fosh staged a legal “death.” However, his attorney intervened just before the finish line, preventing the plan from being carried out.

Over the past several years, YouTube sensation Max Fosh has gained widespread attention due to his collection of amusing pranks and unique videos. This British entertainer has left airline passengers puzzled with a huge sign directing them to an incorrect city, recruited soldiers to outdo his friends in paintball games, and temporarily claimed the title of the world’s wealthiest individual.

In much the same way demonstrated in his “world’s richest man” video, Fosh often takes advantage of obscure rules or gaps that are not commonly known to others.

It was clear in his upload on June 30th, as he attempted to secure a refund for an unused plane ticket by pretending to have died legally. Indeed, this is no joke.

Max Fosh ‘dies’ to get refund on airline ticket

Airfare refunds for unused tickets are only granted by airlines if the passenger has unfortunately passed away. However, it’s not specified exactly where the death certificate should originate from, according to Fosh, recalling his 2023 video where he received a presidential pardon from Gibraltar.

As a gamer, I managed to get a refund for my £37.28/$51.36 by being “declared dead” in the humorous sense by the principality of Seborga in Italy. Quite an unusual way to recoup my funds!

After receiving the formal document, the specific airline proceeded with processing the passenger’s refund claim. Yet, his attorney advised him against finalizing the transaction on YouTube.

“No, no, no, no, no, no. It is not fraud, but I mean, it is fraudulent,” his lawyer said. 

Fosh emphasized, “Since this is my own money being returned to me, it’s not fraudulent.” He cautioned against imitation, explaining that he was being advised not to make a claim for the money.

The YouTube star noted that his lawyer would usually let him, but “put his foot down,” for once.
