YouTube now lets users completely hide Shorts from their main feed if they don’t want to see them. A new setting allows you to remove this type of video entirely.
YouTube Shorts have been around for five years, but they’re not for everyone. If you prefer longer videos and don’t enjoy short, vertical clips, you can now hide Shorts completely.
YouTube first announced new parental controls in October 2025 to help parents manage how much time their children spend watching Shorts. Initially, the shortest time limit available was 15 minutes.
YouTube now lets users set a time limit of zero minutes for watched content, which completely hides Shorts from the app on mobile devices, as first noted by The Verge.
YouTube shorts can now be removed from your feed
YouTube has just launched a new feature allowing parents to set a ‘zero-minute’ viewing time for their children, and it’s now available to all accounts, according to YouTube representative Makenzie Spiller.
This setting helps you control how much time you spend watching Shorts each day. Previously, you could set a limit, like 15 minutes. You’d receive a warning as you approached that time, and once you reached it, Shorts would stop playing for the rest of the day and disappear from the app.

The Shorts section is now hidden, and you won’t see Shorts recommended in your main feed. Setting the viewing time to zero minutes completely stops Shorts from appearing in your app.
Just three months after letting users hide Shorts from search results, YouTube is now giving people more control over these short-form videos. If you want to avoid seeing Shorts altogether, especially on your phone, you now have the tools to do so.
