YouTube Is Coming To Switch 2

The long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 has finally hit the market, yet it seems to be lacking a few applications out of the box, such as the widely used YouTube app. Google has confirmed that this popular app is indeed in development for the device, although they haven’t provided a specific timeline on when players can expect its release.

The YouTube application can be obtained via the Nintendo eShop, however, it is at present only accessible on the original Nintendo Switch. As a result, those transitioning to the upcoming Switch 2 model won’t have the ability to utilize the app. Some users are voicing their concerns on social media and seeking an app adaptation, with Google acknowledging one such plea for attention.

The TeamYouTube account has announced that they are collaborating with Nintendo to bring YouTube to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

It’s unclear as to why the current app can’t work with the Switch 2. Interestingly enough, YouTube didn’t become accessible on the original Switch until more than a year following its release. Therefore, even though it’s disappointing that YouTube won’t be available at launch for the Switch 2, let’s hope Google’s reaction signals that the app will be arriving soon.

Several classic Nintendo Switch games are playable on the console, thanks to backward compatibility. Furthermore, certain titles have received upgraded versions for the Switch, either through paid editions or free enhancements, which can bring about significant changes.
