You’ll Have to Wait Un Poco for Coco 2

Miguel and his dog Dante continue to stay in our memories, almost a decade after the release of “Coco“. Recently, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a sequel to “Coco” is planned for 2029, to the delight of many musical Disney fans who were following along via livestream. Some may have wished for a more grandiose announcement, like last year’s D23 event where a band played a song to accompany the reveal. Alternatively, it would have been nice if Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who won two Oscars for “Coco”, were present. Given its success, a bit more excitement seems warranted. Iger hinted that the film is still in its early stages but will be filled with humor, emotion, and adventure. Lee Unkrich, the original director, and Adrian Molina are set to return for the sequel, with Mark Nielsen of “Inside Out 2” producing. At this time, there’s no information available regarding who will write the script or the songs for the movie.

As a movie enthusiast, I found myself captivated by the tale of Miguel, a musician who hails from a lineage where music has been taboo for generations. In his quest to uncover family mysteries during the Day of the Dead, he journeyed into the realm of the deceased. The clock was ticking as he navigated through this otherworldly landscape, striving to return to the land of the living before it was too late.

On a lighter note, if you’re yearning for more enchantment from Coco, Disney California Adventure has announced plans for a Coco-themed ride – although we’ll have to wait a few more years to experience it.
