You Won’t Believe Why The Last Of Us Had To Use CGI On Kaitlyn Dever

Kaitlyn Dever left a significant mark in The Last of Us Season 2, and it appears she’s set for an even larger part in Season 3. However, the actress who plays Abby in the series disclosed that she required some CGI assistance during filming of one of her earliest episodes.

During an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Dever mentioned that a spider had bitten her face when she was at home during the breaks between filming scenes for The Last of Us Season 2. Since the bite mark was quite prominent, only advanced digital effects (CGI) could remove it before the deadline.

According to Dever, he mentioned that the incident occurred in the initial episode featuring the Fireflies. During this time, he had temporarily returned home and experienced a spider bite on his cheek which he initially mistook for a pimple. However, it was not just a pimple but a large spider bite that was discharging fluid. The computer-generated imagery (CGI) was impressive to the point where you couldn’t notice it. To this day, he still carries a scar on his face because they had to surgically remove it.

In the upcoming third season of “The Last of Us,” it was confirmed by co-star Catherine O’Hara that the story will primarily focus on Abby, implying a greater role for Dever when the show resumes. During an interview with LA Times, Dever shared her interest in exploring Abby’s background through a flashback episode featuring her father, reminiscent of the one featuring Ellie and Joel played by Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, respectively.

HBO hasn’t announced when filming for The Last of Us Season 3 will start or confirmed a fourth season yet, but co-showrunner Craig Mazin thinks that a Season 4 is crucial to wrap up the show and complete the adaption of The Last of Us Part II.
